Telstra cuts boss Vicki Brady's pay by $607,000 after July outage
The board cut Vicki Brady's pay by $607,000 and nine other senior executives' bonuses by $1.3 million in total.
The board cut chief executive Vicki Brady's pay by $607,000 for 2025/26. Her total pay is now $6.8 million.
The board also cut the bonus pay of nine other senior executives by $1.3 million in total. The July outage hit public transport, EFTPOS payments and hundreds of triple zero (000) emergency calls.
An external review found the main cause was Telstra not treating network timing as a critical area. That area needed the highest level of oversight.
The outage began after a planned change to a timing chassis in Melbourne. That change set the wrong internal date.
The review also found ownership of timing problems was not clearly defined. Not enough technical experts were on hand to fix the problem.
A Senate inquiry and an investigation by the Australian Communications and Media Authority are still under way. Shareholders will question executives at the annual meeting in Sydney on Tuesday.
