Melbourne cattle farm jumps to $300m as fringe land values surge
A 296-hectare Beveridge farm valued at over $300 million now ranks among Australia's priciest rural land.
Australia's most expensive cattle farms are now in a showdown. A 296-hectare property at Beveridge in Melbourne's north is being offered for sale for more than $300 million, valuing land at about $410,397 per acre.
The Beveridge farm edges above Echo Vale near Sydney, listed at more than $700 million for 737 hectares, or $384,404 per acre. The Beveridge farms have 1.9 kilometres of Old Sydney Road frontage and are run as a modest cattle operation.
Agents say the site could be developed with more than 4500 housing lots, sitting minutes from the Hume Freeway. The sale is by tender closing 24 November.
Echo Vale, which remains a pure cattle farm today, is also for sale with development potential valued at more than $3 billion.
