Neil Wilson steps down as VRC chairman after Melbourne Cup Carnival
VRC chairman Neil Wilson will stand down after this year's Melbourne Cup, with board member Vin Cox named as his successor.
Neil Wilson is stepping down as chairman of the Victoria Racing Club after 14 years in various roles. Neil Wilson was appointed chairman in November 2020 and served six years in the role, leaving one year early before his maximum eight-year term could end.
Wilson led the club through the pandemic. Wilson recently returned the Melbourne Cup Carnival to pre-pandemic crowds of 286,000 in 2025.
He also grew membership to a record 36,000. Neil Wilson also secured new deals with Tabcorp and Nine Entertainment and returned the club to net profitability after several years in the red.
Board member Vin Cox has been identified as his replacement. Cox joined the VRC board in 2020 and previously worked as general manager at racing firm Yulong Investments and held senior roles at Godolphin Australia and Magic Millions.
Wilson will depart at the VRC's annual general meeting in December.
