Subaru and Nissan collide head-on in Moana, killing 11-year-old girl
An 11-year-old died and her mother suffered serious injuries in a Moana head-on collision.
A head-on crash killed an 11-year-old girl and left her mother with serious injuries in Adelaide's south on Tuesday night. Emergency services were called to Commercial Rd in Moana about 7pm after a Subaru and Nissan Pulsar collided.
The girl was trapped in the Pulsar alongside her mother, a 35-year-old woman from Christie Downs. Residents heard just the impact from inside their homes, with one describing it as sounding like a bomb going off.
Firefighters used the jaws of life to free the girl's mother, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Despite efforts by bystanders and emergency crews, the girl died at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru, a 37-year-old man from Seaford Meadows, suffered only minor injuries and immediately tried to help the trapped pair. Major Crash investigators remained on scene to determine the cause.
