Knee-deep water on Wellington Street forced a 15-minute evacuation of the Health Hub.
Fire alarms triggered at 3pm on Wednesday when water gushed from beneath the pavement on Wellington Street in Launceston's CBD. Fire crews cordoned off the affected lane and evacuated the Health Hub, where staff were in consultations and children were sleeping in childcare.
The water left a sizeable deposit of gravel across the road. Health Hub director Dr Jerome Muir Wilson said everyone was safely moved and no one was hurt.
