Olly Ross nails last-second goal to win reserves grand final
Olly Ross kicked a last-second goal to give Learmonth a one-goal win over Buninyong in the CHFL reserves grand final.
After 10 years at Learmonth, Olly Ross delivered the moment every footballer dreams of. With less than a minute left and the Bombers ahead, Ross followed a desperately hacked forward ball, took possession and curled a swerving finish into goal.
The Lakies won 8.10 (58) to 9.2 (56). Ross, who has almost 300 career goals, said: "It's one of those ones you dream of as a kid in the backyard growing up."
Learmonth had given up a big lead and struggled to generate chances in the final quarter as momentum swung to Buninyong. Ross acknowledged the tension: "Everything we did was intercepted and bounced out, and when it gets that close to the end, you start thinking it's gone."
For Buninyong, it was a second consecutive grand final loss, having gone down by a point to Dunnstown the previous year.
