Coroner to detail healthcare failures in toddler's sepsis death
A coroner will release findings about healthcare failures in three-year-old Pippa Mae White's sepsis death from 2022.
Findings into the death of three-year-old Pippa Mae White come out Tuesday in NSW. Pippa died of sepsis in June 2022.
Pippa was transferred from Cowra Hospital to Orange Hospital in the central west. The inquest found multiple healthcare failures.
There was understaffing, missing training, and failure to report her condition. Annah White warned that Pippa was sicker than doctors realised.
Her warnings were dismissed. A nurse at Cowra did not check the hospital's pediatric sepsis pathway when assessing her.
Since Pippa's death, NSW started the Raise It campaign. It lets parents call a helpline to raise concerns about a loved one's care with a senior health worker.
