Uber Eats driver carjacked at gunpoint in Perth while picking up order
A 54-year-old Uber Eats driver was threatened and her BMW stolen in Canning Vale; the car crashed 25km away in Hazelmere.
Reena Walia, 54, was approached while picking up a restaurant order in Canning Vale just after 6.30pm on Wednesday. The man threatened her and she threw her keys in panic.
Reena Walia's BMW 3 Series was driven away as she ran back to alert staff. Police allege the driver accelerated when ordered to stop and crashed near Roe Hwy and Great Eastern Hwy Bypass in Hazelmere, about 25 kilometres away.
The man fled on foot and was found hiding in bushland. A 32-year-old from Jandakot was charged with robbery, vehicle theft, drug possession, reckless driving to escape pursuit, and failing to stop for police.
He appeared in Armadale Magistrates Court and bail was not considered.
