Driver charged over rubbish truck death in Perth
A 59-year-old rubbish truck driver has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death after striking a pedestrian.
An Yu, 70, was struck by a reversing council rubbish truck on September 7 while exercising near his home in Queens Park, Perth. An Yu was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital but died from his injuries.
Police charged a 59-year-old driver from Riverton with dangerous driving occasioning death. The man, who worked for the City of Canning, is next due in Armadale Magistrates Court in November.
An Yu was recovering from a stroke and was well known to neighbours as a regular walker. An Yu shared a few precious final words with his wife of 35 years before he died.
Police said there is no wider risk to the community.
