Detective breaks down recounting discovery of bodies in Lamarre-Condon trial

A detective testified about discovering the bodies of two men allegedly murdered by Beau Lamarre-Condon at a rural monastery.

A detective became emotional while testifying about the search for bodies of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, men accused murderer Beau Lamarre-Condon is alleged to have killed. Detective Christine Abela told the NSW Supreme Court jury she followed leads from a friend of Lamarre-Condon to a farm in Bungonia, then to a nearby Greek Orthodox monastery.

Detective Christine Abela recalled a "strong smell of decomposing body" when she arrived at the property. Abela found two surfboard bags stacked on top of each other, covered with sticks and rocks, later confirmed to contain the men's remains.

The 31-year-old Lamarre-Condon, a former police officer, has pleaded not guilty and is claiming self-defence. The two men disappeared in February 2024.
