Burn-off spreads to tractor, fire brigade urges paddock safety

Koroit fire brigade was called to a burn-off fire on Caramut Road near Yangery. The call came just before 11am on Sunday, October 11.
The fire spread to a nearby tractor. The fire caused extensive damage to the tractor.
Brigade captain Steve Giblin urged landholders to complete burns before weather turns too dry. Giblin said they should have safety equipment on hand, such as a fire extinguisher or water source.
Anyone lighting a substantial burn bears the responsibility to prepare for mishaps. The crews were managing the fire while also attending another job in Koroit.
