Adelaide names laneway after Hilltop Hoods, the hip-hop trio that made it global
Clubhouse Lane was renamed Hilltop Hoods Lane on Wednesday. This marks the group's permanent place in Adelaide's music heritage.
The three-piece hip-hop group went from playing pubs on Hindley St to having a laneway named after them, which is one of Adelaide's highest cultural honours. The group formed in the 1990s when they were teenagers at Blackwood.
Since then, they have sold more than one million albums. They have accumulated billions of streams.
They have won seven ARIA number one albums. Hilltop Hoods Lane is the sixth stop on Adelaide's City of Music trail.
It joins tributes to Paul Kelly, Sia, Cold Chisel, No Fixed Address and The Angels. Two large murals by Adelaide artist Vans the Omega now dominate the space.
Pressure, Suffa and DJ Debris said the honour connects them even deeper to the place they call home.
