Drug driver banned after electric skateboard defence fails in court
Warrnambool man banned for 14 months after twice riding under meth influence, once on an electric skateboard.
Aaron Toohey, an aged care worker, pleaded guilty to two counts of driving under the influence of drugs. Police intercepted him in December after he tested positive for methamphetamine at a breath-test site.
Five months later, a highway patrol officer found him riding an electric skateboard on Merrivale Drive. Toohey told court he believed an electric skateboard was not a motorised vehicle.
He was fined $800 and banned from driving for 14 months.
