Geocon halted from building at Phillip pool site until lease deal done
Geocon cannot start building at the Phillip pool site until it wins approval for a lease variation.
Geocon has been blocked from the Phillip swimming pool site. Geocon must get a lease variation from the ACT government first.
The developer won planning approval in December 2025 for stage one. Stage one includes two 13-storey towers with 286 apartments.
It also has a cafe, basement parking, and an indoor 25-metre pool. All three stages would deliver close to 700 units.
The lease variation has not yet been formally lodged. If approved, Geocon will likely pay millions for the deal.
The 50-metre outdoor pool opens for summer on October 24. The toddlers' and middle-sized pools remain closed.
It appears Geocon will not operate them. An ACT Integrity Commission investigation is looking into corruption allegations about the development.
It remains ongoing.
