Grand final hero gives his medals to his toddler daughters
Panayi placed his grand final medals around his daughters' necks instead of wearing them.
Andrew Panayi kicked six goals as Daylesford crushed Dunnstown by 47 points in Saturday's Central Highlands grand final. Panayi came away with two medals: premiership and best on ground.
Panayi placed them around his three-year-old daughter Vilet and 11-month-old daughter Genevieve instead of wearing them. For Panayi, family comes first.
He had retired at the end of 2023 before Daylesford recalled him in round five of 2024. His wife manages their kids while he plays footy.
'You only have a short career, and when you can include your kids, you bring them along,' Panayi said. He finished 2024 with 50 goals for the season, 20 in finals.
Daylesford claimed their second premiership in three seasons.
