Jade Selby quit as Perth Magpies head coach after four seasons, citing lost hunger despite a 75 per cent winning rate.
Jade Selby has stepped down as head coach of the club, walking away from the role despite having one year left on his contract. In four seasons, he transformed the club from mid-ladder to a genuine premiership contender, achieving a winning percentage above 75 per cent.
The team reached back-to-back grand finals, losing both times, most recently to Bridport. Selby said after reflecting with assistant Matt Eiszele, he realised his hunger to continue had run out.
"When all that hits, I caught up with Chuggy on Monday night, and that was the easy conclusion for me," he said. The club is in a stronger position than when he arrived, with a young list capable of competing, Selby added.
