Cosima Marriner named first female editor of Australian Financial Review

Cosima Marriner has been promoted to editor-in-chief of the Australian Financial Review, becoming the first woman to lead the publication. Cosima Marriner takes the role on October 12.
The promotion follows James Chessell's resignation after just over two years in the job. Chessell is joining Rampart, an independent media outlet founded by former Financial Review columnist Joe Aston.
Marriner has been the AFR's editor and worked with Chessell to update the newsroom. She said the publication is in the best shape it has ever been.
Her goal is to keep breaking major stories and shape Australia's business conversation. Nine, which owns the Financial Review, said the publication has grown its audience, subscribers and revenue under Chessell.
