Nathan Fielder's Holmes documentary becomes surreal as her story slips from her control.

The documentary by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim comes to theatres October 16. A24 released the full trailer Wednesday, showing what builds from an intimate portrait into something wilder.

The film was created in secret over four years and gives Holmes space to share her account of Theranos. In the second half, it explores the strange fact that Holmes is now in prison and cannot speak for herself at length.

Holmes claimed innocence before receiving an 11-year sentence. The documentary examines how control of her story has shifted.
