Lil Durk acquitted of all charges in murder-for-hire trial
The Grammy-winning rapper was cleared Friday. Jurors found prosecutors failed to prove their murder-for-hire claims.
Lil Durk was acquitted on all five federal counts Friday after a three-week trial in Los Angeles. Prosecutors said he ordered a hit on rival rapper Quando Rondo to get revenge for his friend King Von's death in 2020.
Prosecutors claimed this bounty led to Quando Rondo's cousin being killed. The jury had seven women and five men.
They took three days to find Durk did not do it. Lil Durk's defence attacked the credibility of the government's main witnesses.
These witnesses were admitted killers trying to avoid life sentences by testifying against him. His co-defendants Deandre Wilson and David Lindsey were convicted of conspiracy to commit stalking and stalking resulting in death.
Durk still faces a second trial on October 5. It is on a racketeering-related murder charge that was separated from this case.
