Sam Marshall chooses St Kilda over Essendon in trade call

Out-of-contract Brisbane midfielder Sam Marshall has decided St Kilda is his preferred trade destination.

The 20-year-old was limited to two AFL games this season after being part of Brisbane's 2025 premiership team. Marshall was substituted off in the premiership win and struggled to force his way into the senior side under coach Chris Fagan.

Marshall, a Brisbane Academy product, averaged 25 disposals across 16 VFL games. A formal trade between Brisbane and St Kilda will need to be negotiated in the coming days.

Marshall is not eligible for free agency.
