He grew up in Darley in the western suburbs and supported the team as a boy. List managers from Port Adelaide and the Bulldogs have started trade talks to finish the move.
The Dogs are unlikely to wait until deadline day. They already re-signed defender Buku Khamis and young midfielder Arty Jones to new deals.
They also welcomed free agent Jordon Butts. Port Adelaide plans to use the Butters trade as part of a three-year draft strategy.
