Sam Wood denied bail on domestic violence allegations
Sam Wood, 46, failed to secure bail after Queensland court heard allegations he choked and head-banged his wife.
Fitness guru Sam Wood has been denied bail after a Sunshine Coast court heard domestic violence allegations against him. Wood, 46, faces charges including assault and strangulation over an incident at Noosa last Saturday.
The court heard his wife told police she was choked, could not breathe, and had her head banged on the floor. Wood's lawyer argued self-defence, saying his wife was hostile and yelling, and Wood denied strangulation.
Prosecutors told the court there was an earlier domestic violence incident in Victoria, though no charges were laid. The victim in the current case told emergency services she feared for her safety.
Wood will remain in custody pending further court action. His business, 28 by Sam Wood, was sold to billionaire Dennis Bastas in 2022 and the owner dropped Wood from the platform this week.
