Beau Lamarre-Condon trial hears evidence of decomposed bodies
Jurors have been shown photos of the decomposed bodies of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies.
Former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, 31, has pleaded not guilty to the February 2024 murders of Jesse Baird, 26, and Luke Davies, 29. The trial is now in its third week and has focused on how investigators discovered the remains in rural NSW.
Justice Natalie Adams warned jurors they would see confronting photos of decomposition. The bodies were found inside two surfboard bags at a Greek monastery at Bungonia, about 20 kilometres from where Lamarre-Condon allegedly tried to sink them in a dam.
Forensic evidence shows the remains had been there for several days, with large numbers of maggots and decompositional fluids present. His barrister has argued that efforts to dispose of the bodies show panic rather than planning.
Why it mattersThe case involves a sitting police officer accused of murder; the trial outcome will test the justice system's ability to prosecute one of its own.
AustraliaThis high-profile NSW Supreme Court case continues to dominate Australian news and raises questions about police accountability and the safety of vulnerable Australians.
