Osborne footballer charged over fatal quad bike crash at club ground
John William Russell Ryan, 20, was charged with dangerous driving causing death after a quad bike collision.
John William Russell Ryan, 20, was driving a quad bike towing teammate Jed Griffin, 25. The collision happened at Osborne Recreation Reserve on September 20 after the Hume League grand finals.
The quad bike hit a goalpost. Bystanders gave immediate first aid and paramedics arrived, but Griffin died at the scene.
Police arrested Ryan and charged him with dangerous driving causing death and negligent driving causing death. Ryan appeared in Wagga Local Court on September 23.
The case returns on November 11 for brief service orders. Griffin had been named among Osborne's best players in their grand final the day before.
