Houthis launch new strikes on Saudi Arabia airports
Houthi rebels claimed missile and drone strikes on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and other Saudi military sites.
Iran-backed Houthi rebels said they hit Saudi airports and bases in southwestern Saudi Arabia near Yemen on Wednesday. The military spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said they targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with ballistic missiles and drones.
Saree provided no evidence. Flights to and from the airport were briefly disrupted.
The Houthis also claimed attacks on Abha airport, an air base in Khamis Mushait, and military bases in Najran and Asir. Saudi Arabia said it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile north of Riyadh.
The attacks threaten shipping routes in the Red Sea.
