Subaru Outback Wilderness arrives in Australia as off-road alternative to STI
Subaru's off-road focused Outback Wilderness sub-brand launches locally in 2026. It builds a new performance identity beyond its rally heritage.
Subaru's Outback Wilderness range arrived in Australia in early 2026. It offers an off-road adventure angle rather than the motorsport edge of the famous STI brand.
The Wilderness sub-brand debuted in North America in 2021 and has now reached the Australian market. The flagship 2027 Outback Wilderness Apex costs $62,690 before on-road fees.
It is designed for light off-road use. All-terrain tyres are available for $4286.93 and $5274.12 for sets of four or five.
Subaru still stays heavily involved in Australian rally racing. But it is building a separate performance identity through Wilderness.
The only real competitor is the Hyundai Palisade XRT Pro, though it is larger, more costly and seats three rows. Subaru has not yet confirmed Australian releases of the Crosstrek and Forester versions.
