Former Woolworths worker pleads guilty to hammer-armed robbery
Jesse Cunningham, 37, pleaded guilty to robbing a Camperdown Woolworths armed with two hammers after tricking her way into the store.
Cunningham, a former employee, returned to the Camperdown store before opening and was let in by a delivery driver who thought she was staff. Armed with two hammers, she entered the safe area while staff were present.
Cunningham told them: "I don't want to hurt you. I'm robbing the store."
She then stole more than 20 mobile phones and toothbrushes after unsuccessfully trying to open two safes and a cigarette cabinet. Police arrested her at 12:30pm that afternoon at her home, where they found similar clothing to security footage and cannabis.
She has spent 263 days in custody awaiting sentencing, which is set for 8 October.
