Bendigo Art Gallery demolition is done as the $45 million rebuild takes shape
A 650-tonne crane is set to be on site for a week in October to lift 59 pre-cast concrete panels.
Demolition of the Bendigo Art Gallery is now complete. A concrete slab has been poured for the new two-storey gallery on View Street.
Dignitaries visited the $45 million site on Thursday, October 8, to mark a "major milestone". A 650-tonne crane is set to be on site for a week in October to lift 59 pre-cast concrete panels.
The gallery is expected to bring up to $35 million in local spending each year. The gallery is also expected to support up to 170 ongoing jobs.
The new gallery will have a second floor for major international exhibitions. The gallery hopes to start moving its treasured artwork back in just over 12 months from now.
The gallery is hoping to reopen in early 2028.
