Pokémon Happy Meal toys sell out across Australia in less than two days

McDonald's Pokémon Happy Meals sold out nationwide in less than two days of launch.

The meals launched across Australia on November 5 and vanished from shelves by November 7. A sign at Maccas at Chatswood in Sydney read: "Fully sold out of Pokémon Happy Meal toys.

Sorry for the inconvenience." Each meal includes two Pokémon Trading Card Game cards and one of 15 miniature toys.

McDonald's says more stock will arrive in the coming days. The promotion runs until December 9 or while stocks last.

The craze tapped into a broader Pokémon boom: that week, new trading card ranges dropped at retailers across the country, with queues forming at Big W and Kmart.
