Two major road closures planned for Canberra in September
Canberra faces major road closures on Lanyon Drive and Coppins Crossing Road during Floriade.
Lanyon Drive at the Monaro Highway will close from 7 pm Friday, 18 September. Lanyon Drive will reopen at 5 am Monday, 21 September.
The closure is for paving work as part of the highway upgrade. Traffic will be diverted through the Hume industrial area via Sheppard Street.
A second major closure is planned for Coppins Crossing Road between Holborow and Hazel Hawke avenues. The closure runs from 2 am Monday, 28 September until 6 pm Friday, 2 October.
This happens during school holidays for earthworks and drainage installation. The closures occur during Floriade, which brings large numbers of visitors to Canberra.
Shuttle buses will run from key locations. About 10,000 parking spaces are available across the city.
Free parking is offered at nearby car parks from 5:30 pm Wednesday to Sunday evenings.
