One man impersonated government officials to steal $1.5 million in Medicare claims; another defrauded the NDIS of $1.8 million.
One man impersonated Services Australia staff to get information from medical practitioners, then used it to lodge fraudulent Medicare claims totalling $1.5 million. A second man, acting as director of an NDIS provider, submitted fake invoices for services never delivered, stealing $1.89 million between 2020 and 2024.
