Canberra kids get softer balls and lower nets to learn volleyball
PlayVolley is an eight-week volleyball program with a lighter ball and lower net to help primary school children learn the sport.
PlayVolley starts in Canberra this October, designed for kids who have never touched a volleyball. The net is lower than standard, the ball is lighter, and there is no standing around waiting your turn.
Each session runs for an hour, with kids learning one skill and then using it straight away in a match. The eight-week program runs every Friday at Lyneham Beach Volleyball Courts from 23 October to 11 December.
The curriculum was designed with the Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation and focuses on early success and pure enjoyment over perfection. At the end of each session, parents can join in and play with their kids.
Schools can also arrange sessions during or after school hours.
