Sydney captain Mills out for 12 months with ACL rupture in AFL prelim
Sydney captain Mills will miss 12 months after rupturing his ACL against Brisbane.
Sydney Swans captain Callum Mills has ruptured his ACL and will miss most of the next 12 months ahead of the team's preliminary final against Fremantle at the SCG. Mills suffered the injury in the team's thrashing of Brisbane two weeks ago.
The Swans also lost veteran Harry Cunningham to a calf strain at training this week. This forces two changes for Friday night's prelim.
Lewis Melican will replace Mills in the backline. Winger Justin McInerney will play his first game since round 13 after recovering from a significant hamstring injury.
Coach Dean Cox opted not to bring in key forward Joel Amartey, who is still building fitness following an Achilles injury.
