Ben Shelton has advanced to the US Open final after beating Frances Tiafoe 4-6 6-3 6-3 7-5. The No. 8 seed will face top seed Alexander Zverev on Sunday, with the match broadcast Monday AEST in Australia.
Shelton became the first Black American man to reach a US Open final since Arthur Ashe in 1972. Shelton also beat defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals in a match that finished at 3:33am, the latest finish in US Open history.
A win would give the United States its first men's major champion in New York since Andy Roddick in 2003.
