Newcastle singer Tyler Chapman cast in Moulin Rouge musical Sydney
Singer Tyler Chapman has been cast as Santiago in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, his first professional lead role, premiering March 2027.
Tyler Chapman was preparing to start a career in speech pathology when a phone call changed everything: he had won the lead role of Santiago in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, a new Australian production by Global Creatures.
Chapman will play the fiery Argentinian bohemian at Sydney's Lyric Theatre, joined by Ben Hall, Tim Omaji, and Thalia Smith as fellow cast members. Tyler Chapman has spent the past eight years working as a wedding singer across Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, Sydney, and Europe.
Chapman, who studied at Lambton High School, said he put his theatre dreams on hold after a vocal injury, but always dreamed of working in live theatre. He now moves to Sydney to begin rehearsals for the March debut.
More cast members will be announced in coming months.
