Melbourne undefeated meets North after streak-breaking loss
Unbeaten Melbourne faces North Melbourne on Friday after North's 1020-day winning streak ended last week.
Melbourne is the only undefeated team left in the AFLW, with six straight wins under new coach Tom Wilson. North Melbourne, two-time reigning champions, had their 1020-day winning streak snapped last week in Cairns by Hawthorn.
Friday night at Ikon Park will decide which side is the true premiership frontrunner. The match will be won and lost in the midfield.
North has captain Jasmine Garner, ranked the competition's third-best player and leading the coaches' votes this year. Ash Riddell averages 35.5 disposals a game, the most in the competition.
Melbourne's Liv Purcell is their highest centre bounce attendance player of the year and hasn't missed a beat since returning from an ACL injury.
