Deputy mayor Vonette Mead throws hat in Latrobe mayoral race
Eight-year Latrobe deputy councillor Vonette Mead runs for mayor. She faces two candidates who are not councillors in a three-way race.
Deputy mayor Vonette Mead has entered the Latrobe mayoral race. The eight-year councillor will run as an independent.
She faces former Liberal politician Brett Whiteley. One Nation member James Redgrave also runs.
Both are independents. Incumbent Peter Freshney is not running.
So the council will get a new mayor. Mead has more than 35 years of business experience.
She leads Master Builders Tasmania. She was elected deputy four years ago.
She got the second-most votes in the 2022 election.
