Subaru Forester Hybrid recalled over parking brake defect

Subaru recalled 42 Forester Hybrid vehicles made in 2026 due to faulty parking locks that may fail.

Subaru Australia has recalled 42 Forester Hybrid models from 2026 over a manufacturing defect that can crack the parking pawl in the transmission. When this part fails, the parking lock may stop working, even when the gear is in Park.

A vehicle could then roll away unexpectedly, risking serious injury or death to people in and around the car. Subaru will contact affected owners in writing to arrange free repairs.

Owners with concerns can call 1800 226 643 or email [email protected]. The Forester was last recalled in November 2023 for a driveshaft issue.
