Proposed grant changes would leave almost half of NSW councils worse off
Wollongong would fall from $23.8 million to about $7.7 million under the proposed funding method.
The Local Government Grants Commission has indicated that almost half of NSW councils would receive less federal money from 1 July 2027. Financial Assistance grants are paid by the federal government and run by the NSW Government.

Bega Valley Shire Council faces a reduction of $3.843 million a year, or 38.3 per cent. Snowy Monaro Regional Council has been told it could see a $5.1 million cut to its grant.
