Canberra mourns Ryan Riethmuller, cyclist killed in Gungahlin Drive crash
Ryan Riethmuller, champion line dancer and accountant, was remembered at his funeral after the cycling crash that killed him.
Ryan Riethmuller was farewelled on Monday morning at Mitchell's Norwood Park, dressed in shades of blue and wearing his favourite Simpsons socks. Riethmuller died on September 3 from head injuries sustained in a crash on Gungahlin Drive on August 27.
A car struck a five-member cycling group from the Canberra Bilby Triathlon Club, also killing his riding partner Bridie Lee, 32. Riethmuller was remembered as a champion line dancer, successful accountant, devoted father and beloved husband.
His wife Jessie and their children Nevaeh, 13, and Noah, 10, were supported by members of the cycling community, his dance teammates, and accounting colleagues. Teammates from his dancing family described him as someone who genuinely cared for others and was not just a spectator but a player in the field.
ACT Policing continues to investigate the crash. No charges have been laid.
