Anthropic researchers warn AI could kill all humans within a decade

Researchers from Anthropic say AI could be an extinction-level threat in ten years. This has triggered warnings about AI's unchecked risks.

Three Anthropic researchers warned that AI could kill all humans in ten years. The warning is getting attention as AI becomes more common.

MIT FutureTech and the University of Queensland studied five big AI risks. These include dangerous abilities, competition pressure, weapons and hacking, concentrated power, and false information.

They found 18 of 24 AI risks had at least a 10% chance of causing serious harm in five years. Fears range from AI bots annoying people with spam to running scams and hacking systems.

Researchers say we need to treat AI as a society-wide challenge needing coordinated action.
