Warrnambool cafe opens to fulfill grandfather's final wish
Kelly Brown opened Fou de Toi, a Parisian-inspired cafe in Warrnambool, honouring her grandfather's dying wish.
Kelly Brown has opened Fou de Toi, a French cafe and wine bar in Warrnambool, on the site of her parents' former picture framing shop at 42 Kepler Street. Geoff, her grandfather, told her while dying, "You make sure you get that cafe going, Kel."
Brown grew up surrounded by family business owners and always dreamt of opening a cafe, inspired by her love of French culture, food, and wine. Brown spent more than 12 months transforming the building, even posting French signs in the window before opening.
The cafe features a chalkboard menu and fresh baguettes on the counter. Brown said she thinks of her grandfather's words whenever the business feels overwhelming, and his voice tells her to keep going.
