He became a familiar and loved presence. Wildlife rescuer Chris Lehmann cared for Bruce.
He was surprised by how strongly the community responded to the kangaroo's death. The funds paid for the two plaques and helped two local wildlife shelters.
Lehmann said the plaques would start conversations now and in the future. Community member Clint Ilsley called it a sign of the town's spirit.
