Perth medical student's app helps Australians manage prescriptions
Rishi Yogesan created MediRemind, an app downloaded over 1000 times in just six weeks.
Rishi Yogesan, a 22-year-old medical student in Perth, built an app to solve a problem he watched his mother and grandmother face: keeping track of multiple prescriptions. Rishi teamed up with his father Yogesan Kanagasingam to create MediRemind from their kitchen table.
The app has already been downloaded more than 1000 times in just six weeks. The app stores scripts, repeats and medication reminders all in one place.
Patient data stays securely on the user's device rather than sent to an external server. Yogesan initially thought it was just a family problem.
He later discovered it is widespread. Around one third of Australians aged over 70 take five or more medications a day.
The app could be life-changing for millions.
