$700m plan will transform Wollongong's WIN Stadium precinct
Plans show a $700 million redevelopment. It includes a new indoor arena, an upgraded football stadium, and a foreshore hospitality zone.
Infrastructure NSW has filed plans to change Wollongong's major sports and entertainment venues. The new WIN Arena will seat 9,500 people.
The new WIN Arena will replace the current WIN Entertainment Centre. WIN Stadium's grandstands will be rebuilt.
This will increase capacity for sporting events to 21,600. The stadium will also host major concerts.
A new foreshore area will sit between the stadium and the beach. It will be mostly outdoor with bars, restaurants, and a beachfront entertainment zone.
A multi-storey Beach Complex will connect both venues. It will have premium dining and VIP spaces.
The project is expected to create 300 jobs in the first two years. This will rise to 1,100 by year three.
