Stolen cars torched at Macgregor car park near primary school
Two stolen vehicles have burned at an isolated car park near a primary school in north Canberra within two weeks in September.
A white Subaru Crosstrek stolen from Bruce on September 15 was set alight at Macgregor Oval on September 22. Just a week earlier, a white Hyundai iLoad stolen from Moncrieff on September 12 was torched at the same spot that same evening.
The car park sits between the primary school, a popular oval and a cycling track. Residents have been waking to up to loud explosions and fireballs, with windows rattling from the blasts.
Parents are keeping children away from what should be a quiet suburban space. This is not a new problem: there were two burnings last year in April and June, and this is the third one this year after another car was torched in February.
