Melbourne youth gang targets several lone women in stolen cars over five days
A suspected youth gang attacked multiple women across Melbourne's bayside area in a five-day spree, stealing cash, phones and bags.
Police say a group of youths in stolen cars has launched ambushes on several lone women, punching and dragging victims before fleeing with their belongings. Four separate attacks occurred on Thursday evening alone, with a 64-year-old woman dragged outside Chadstone Shopping Centre at 7:45pm and robbed of her groceries.
A second woman was punched in the face nearby and had her designer purse stolen. Fifteen minutes later, another woman was shoved to the ground and robbed on the Princes Hwy in Clayton.
The same night, a fourth woman was targeted as she left a hairdresser on Bluff Rd. A 74-year-old was attacked on Wednesday at Beaumaris. Police believe a white Haval Jolion was used in multiple incidents and have released images hoping to identify the offenders.
Victoria Police say the group is suspected of 21 offences thus far.
