Thomas Gomm convicted of rape; repeat sex offender to be sentenced next week
Thomas Gomm admitted in court to raping a sleeping woman in June 2025.
Thomas Gomm, 37, admitted to rape in the Wodonga County Court on Monday. The offence occurred in June 2025 when a woman woke to find Gomm attacking her while she slept.
The victim told him to stop and pulled up her pants. Gomm had previously been jailed for 20 months for abusing two sleeping teenagers and possessing child abuse material.
After his release, he met the victim at an Albury motel and they later spent time at a Wodonga home together. The woman believed he was gay and would not harm her.
Judge Krista Breckweg rejected his lawyer's claim that autism caused him to misread signals, noting the victim was asleep and gave no signals. Gomm has spent more than 460 days in custody awaiting trial and will be sentenced on 14 October.
