Dodgers hold Yamamoto for Game 3 to keep rotation fresh
The Dodgers start Skubal in Game 1, Snell in Game 2, and save Yamamoto for Game 3.
Manager Dave Roberts made the rotation choice to keep his three ace pitchers properly spaced. Yamamoto threw a simulated game during the team's bye week and will pitch Game 3 on Tuesday in Atlanta.
Skubal last started two weeks ago and Snell started right before him, so both are ready now. The strategy also protects Yamamoto to pitch a second time if the series reaches Game 5.
Roberts said all three pitchers will be available if needed in a decisive game.
