Arizona woman dies from burns in fire pit gasoline explosion
Woman sustained critical burns when gasoline ignited on backyard fire pit.
Tammy Dodson, a certified nursing assistant at Veterans Affairs, died from severe burns in a fire pit explosion on September 24 in Arizona. Apparently the fire was dying down.
Someone poured gasoline on it from a can. The gasoline ignited and erupted into flames.
Dodson was engulfed by the fire while her partner, who was also present, escaped with minimal burns. Dodson was flown to a burns centre in Phoenix and cared for by medical staff for ten days.
She died on October 4, just one day before her 59th birthday. The circumstances surrounding her death are still under investigation by police.
Dodson was remembered by family as caring and deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren.
